I’m absolutely delighted to share my experience at the MAHL exhibition, my very first time exhibiting alongside a wonderfully talented group of East Kent artists.
Taking place from 29th October to 11th November 2025 at the Pie Factory Margate, this exhibition has been a celebration of creativity, featuring an exciting mix of oils, pastels, acrylics, and contemporary collages.
We kicked things off with a lovely preview evening on Thursday, 30th October, where guests sipped wine and mingled while exploring our work. It was such a warm atmosphere, setting the stage for the days to come.
On 8th November, we hosted a "Meet the Artists" event that allowed visitors to engage with us and learn more about our artistic journeys. I thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating my processes and techniques, meeting so many locals and visitors who showed such genuine interest in our work.
I'm thrilled to share that many of my original collages have found new homes, and I also sold a large number of mounted prints, greetings cards, and postcards. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my art will be appreciated in so many new spaces.
Sharing this experience with fellow artists has been a joy. I've admired:
- Peter Cordeaux, whose vibrant landscapes capture the spirit of the sea around Whitstable with his unique cubist style.
- Paul Gadenne, who brings his background in interior architecture into his beautiful watercolours and oils, telling stories through his art.
- John Hughes, whose deep connection to Kent’s landscapes shines through his paintings, showcasing his impressive experience and dedication to the craft.
Founded in 2012 at the Horsebridge in Whitstable by Angela Malone, Tom Ashworth, John Hughes, and Peter Livesey—whose surnames form the acronym MAHL—our group has evolved significantly over the years. John Hughes has remained a constant presence, guiding our artistic endeavours while embracing new members and opportunities.
As the exhibition came down today, I reflect on how this event has created a fantastic sense of community among us artists and with art enthusiasts. I’m already looking forward to exhibiting with MAHL again in the future! To everyone who visited and supported us, thank you for being a part of this vibrant art scene in East Kent. It’s an experience I won't soon forget!
