The Story Behind the Artwork

The Shingles is a highly personal piece. It was commissioned as a milestone birthday gift to honor a client's husband and celebrate the beauty of their striking seaside home.

When I began this project, my aim was to showcase the property's impressive architecture while capturing the dramatic sea views that surround it.

The process was intense but deeply rewarding. Each element of the composition was meticulously hand-cut from old magazines, allowing me to build vibrant, textured layers that reflect the home’s unique character.

This project truly embodies the immense dedication and effort behind the couple's extensive home renovations. Hearing that the husband is "absolutely over the moon" with the final collage, which is now proudly displayed in their hall, was already the ultimate reward for me. This Gold Award is the wonderful icing on the cake.
